REQUIRED SUPPLIES
Music Binder: 1” and at least Fifteen Sheet Protectors.
Method Book – Standards of Excellence, Book Enhanced 1 – 6th Book 2 Enhanced – 7th
Flute – cleaning/tuning rod, cleaning cloth
Clarinet – swab, cork grease, 4 good reeds (Beginning - Mitchell Lurie 2 ½ , Intermediate - Vandoren 2.5-3, Adv. Vandoren 3-4)
Oboe, Bassoon – swab, cork grease, 1 extra reed, neck/seat strap (bassoon)
Saxophone – swab, cork grease, neck strap, 4 reeds (Lavoz Medium for Int. and Adv)
Trumpet, Baritone, Tuba – valve oil (Hetman’s #2 or Al Cass recommended), tuning slide grease
Trombone – slide oil (super slick recommended), water mist sprayer, tuning slide grease
French Horn – rotary valve oil, tuning slide grease
Percussion – SD1 drum sticks (Vic Firth recommended), practice pad or snare, bell mallets, bells – all for home use. Recommended – rent percussion kit from a music store
GETTING AN INSTRUMENT
Buy – not recommended for Beginners. There are certain brands and types that are recommended and some that you should really stay away from. “Buyer Beware” especially applies to Ebay
Rent – you can rent instruments from Music & Arts, Moe’s Music, Associated Music and Ego Music or any other Music store (not CD/DVD stores like FYE)
Lease – students who cannot rent an instrument can lease a school instrument for free. If you cannot afford to rent at this time, please send a note or email to Mr. Reid as soon as possible. More expensive instruments (Bassoon, Tuba, Bari Sax, etc) are only loosely based on need.

CONCERT AND INFORMAL UNIFORM
Informal Uniform – All Band students must have at least a Band T-shirt ($10). All Band members by Sept 27th. Pull-over Hoodies, Full-zip Hoodies are also offered. When Informal Uniform is called for it is T-Shirt or Hoody, long, blue jeans (any shade) and laced shoes. *Please note – apparel is purchased in groups to maintain low cost so if you do not order by 9/27, you may have to wait indefinitely.
Formal Concerts (Winter, Spring, Band Performance Assessment) – Band members wear white button-up, collared shirt and black slacks, black socks, all-black shoes. Advanced Band will also wear school-provided vests and ties.
